Good
Afternoon
I loved last night’s first group session. I was absolutely thrilled with the number
of you who turned up with such a positive mindset.
Here’s
a reminder of what we covered and your homework.
Your Idea
Two
keywords to think about:
Fluency - which is the link between various parts of your idea. Remember, the more you jar your reader, the more difficult it becomes to keep them in the pages.
Familiarity - humans love familiarity. Even the most original idea still needs to have something to hook on to. Rather than familiarity breeding contempt, think familiarity creates comfort.
Building Your Tribe
Remember, the key is to find people who: know, like and trust you and who would like to buy your book.
Tribe Traction Challenge:
In one
week, comment on 50 posts outside of How to Be Brilliant & Write That Book.
Search for hashtags # and people with specialist areas of interest. Look for your favourite authors or others who are writing a similar genre. Rather than just ‘liking’ or writing one word, be more thoughtful and considered when you connect.
At this
stage, you do not need to tell people that you are writing a book; it’s just about adding 50 deposits in the emotional bank account of 50 new connections.
Writing
Think
about the POV. This is the point of view. Are you writing in the first or third person? Are you making sure that you are staying focused and avoiding taking your reader off track?
A few
ideas to help included:
Writing the same piece with different POV.
Reading aloud (one of my favourites)
Using the mindset of, ‘If it’s even slightly confusing for you, then you will have already lost your reader. Back to the edit!’
Marketing
Next,
we looked at marketing and the importance of starting now to think about your Author Brand.
Your
homework is to watch the Masters Interview with Grant Marshall and to complete the Brand Essence and brand DNA Q & A.
Don’t
overthink this! You can go back to it as often as you want. You can find Grant’s interview in Kajabi.
Publishing
Who would you like to publish your book? It’s time to let your imagination go crazy and think, ‘If you could pick any publisher who would you choose?’
Have a
look at the books you enjoy reading and see what you can find out about their publishers.
In the
next Zoom Masterclass, you are going to learn how to create a pitch document (submission). This pre-homework will really help.
Mastermind/Accountability Groups
It was
brilliant that some of you wanted to spend extra time with your Mastermind groups last night. And I know many of you have already set up WhatsApp groups and have decided on follow-up sessions.
Remember that the main purpose is to support each other, so as well as asking for help please be a person who wants to give lots of help, too. By helping others, it makes us feel better.
Next
Sessions
Our
next session together is a Hepp’s Helps which will take place in the Facebook group at 6 pm on Monday 22nd.
This is
not only an opportunity for you to ask questions on anything you like but there will also be a couple of special guests joining me for the session.
Remember, the Hepp's Helps sessions take place live into the Write That Book Facebook group.
Accelerator
Weekend
And
then we will be having our first Accelerator Weekend on Saturday 27th and 28th November. More details of that weekend will be sent nearer the time.
Here’s
to a brilliant week.
