Writers are terrible at asking for help.
Possibly because we are terrified of rejection!
But there is a way to get people to help you.
And it’s so obvious, you’ll kick yourself when I share.
You ask.
Permissions, endorsements, publicity, fact-checks, interviews, anything you need help with… if you don’t ask you won’t get.
And it’s best if you ask with two things in mind.
What have I given?
What can I give?
If you have deposits in the emotional bank account of the person you’re asking, then it’s easier to ask.
Should you need to offer a deposit afterwards, that can help too.
But it’s best if you can do both.
And be very clear about what you’re asking for.

Hi
I need your help.
I know you signed up for my Write That Book Pop Up Group and Challenge last month and I hope you enjoyed it.
We’re always learning, so I would like to ask you for your thoughts on the experience by completing a simple survey.
As a thank you, I’d like to offer you exclusive access to the Master’s interview I carried out with best-selling author Paul McGee. It’s amazing.
The survey will take you less than five minutes and you’ll be given instant access to the interview.
