Number four already. Doesn’t time fly?
How do you get rid of the fear of publishing your work?
The simple answer is you don't.
ALL authors are riddled with fear and self-doubt.
If you’re a member of my Write That Book community you'll know it’s one of the most common subjects, ‘Am I good enough?’
You are, by the way.
I wonder how many books are still hidden in word processors because the brilliant author didn't have the courage to publish? I know of several people have been writing their book for over 20 years and still they're tweaking and
waiting for it to be just right.
It's bonkers. But the truth is, to some degree, we all do it. Whether it's a delay of a day, a week, a month or a year, everyone is guilty.
But there is one sure-fire way to make sure you press the publish button.
Announce your publication date.
The second you say that your book will be published (on a certain date), you’re committed to making sure you achieve that target.
You'll stay up late and wake up early.
You'll turn down invitations for a lazy lunch, choosing instead to edit your work.
You’ll forget you own a telly!
And you’ll write that book.
What's your publication date?
You need one, otherwise you'll be reading this message a year from now still looking for the confidence to push the publish button.
It doesn't matter if it's a month from now or a year. As soon as you commit you make it a must.
