I have a shoe box packed with business cards.
There are thousands of the things... and I never look at them.
If I needed to find a contact, I probably couldn’t.
It just shows that a traditional business card is possibly the worst business card you could have.
What's the best business card?
My mate Jeffrey Gitomer had several thousand coins minted. Not small 10p sized - they were big hefty solid things.
And when he handed you a card/coin it felt it – solid, certain, trustworthy. It was bronze and featured his head on one side and his company logo on the reverse with his contact details.
I first met him over 20 years ago and I still have mine.
There are currently some quite funky electronic business cards; ones that automatically add your details to someone’s smartphone.
Guaranteed if I bought one of those devices I'd lose it!
I've seen people use all manner of clever devices for business cards. Perspex, steel, wooden. Yep, a wooden business card.
But what's the best business card?
A book.
Or more specifically your book.
I’ve created a short video explaining why (and I show you my biz card box).
It's one minute, seven seconds and you can watch it by clicking the image below.
