Today is their National Day.
Along with; Vinegar, Deep Fried Clams, Biological Coordinators (?) and ‘Cook for your pets’(!) who all
celebrate their special day today, November 1st.
The history of National Authors' Day
In 1928, Nellie Verne Burt McPherson - what a name, president of the Bement, Illinois Women’s Club, had an idea of setting aside a day to celebrate authors.
While she was recuperating in hospital, she wrote a fan letter to fiction writer, Irving Bacheller. She told him how much she enjoyed reading his story Eben Holden’s Last Day A’ Fishin.
Bacheller sent her an autographed copy of another story and Nellie decided to show her appreciation by submitting the idea for a National Authors' Day to observe and honour writers.
Beat that cinnamon, brushes and cooking for pets!
Today, readers are encouraged to reach out to Authors and let them know how much they have enjoyed their work.
And authors melt.
Writing a book is brilliant.
Receiving a review is magical.
A personal message from a reader is the most beautiful thing.
But first, you must write, publish and sell your book.
Q&A Webinar Tonight
Tonight, in advance of the new Write That Book, and to celebrate National Authors' Day, I’m hosting a special Q&A Webinar.
I love these sessions where new and experienced writers can put me on
the spot and ask me anything about writing, publishing and selling their book. I may not know all the answers, but I’ll have a crack at it.
You can join me at 8pm (uk time) LIVE.
Just click here and you’ll be sent a link.
If you’re interested, but unable to watch live, register anyway so I can send you a replay.
