You always remember your first book blast .
The promise is that you will catapult your work to the top of the charts, by getting everyone to buy your book on the same day, at a specific time.
I’ve had a couple of successes doing this, but also a couple of catastrophic failures.
One of the flops was when I faithfully promised my publisher I would be selling 5,000 copies in a day and barely managed 500.
Humble pie for
tea.
However, when a book blast does work, it can help to set your work apart from the thousands of other books that were published that day.
In the Write That Book Masterclass, one of the 21
Masters I interview is Mike Alden who is a Book Blast specialist.
He's brash, straight-talking and certainly lives up to the title of his book, Ask More Get More.
He suggests the top reason most book blasts don't work is because the author is terrified to ask enough readers to buy their book at the specific time.
They're terrified that they may say 'no'.
If you've worked hard, built a tribe, given great value and have enough deposits in their emotional bank accounts, there's no reason why you shouldn't ask your followers for a favour on that day.
They might say 'yes'.
When you're publishing your next book and you want to fire it up the charts, if you want to do a book blast start planning now.
Make it abundantly clear what you want your Tribe to do and when you
want them to do it.
Then… ask, ask and ask them again.
Be Brilliant!
