With our Alnwick event taking place a week on Saturday, I thought it would be a good idea to share what we will be doing on the 25^th and give you a feel for what's available in town and the local area. 

Playhouse (our main events)

The doors open for the Playhouse at 12 noon. My presentation is at 1pm. If you haven't bought a ticket can I advise you to do so ASAP.  Here’s the direct link.

Straight after the keynote, we are meeting in the upstairs bar at the Playhouse. I've requested the use of the whole bar for 3 hours until 5:30pm. 

In the next couple of days, you will receive a voucher which you can print and exchange at the bar for a drink on me. I know it's not exactly the warmest way to do this, but it's practical and ensures we all get to raise a glass together. 

The bar will remain open for the rest of the afternoon and I certainly will be participating in a few G&Ts. 
 

Books

We are also setting up a small bookshop with a limited number of copies (around 20 each) of all of my previous books. If you would like a signed copy of Brilliant Life, The Edge, Flip It etc they will be available on a first come first served basis from 12noon (in the upstairs bar).

If you have ordered Write That Book - the book, you will be able to collect your copy on the day.

What to do in and around Alnwick

If you're arriving on Friday, the monthly market will be taking place.

Barter Books is the biggest second-hand bookshop in the UK. It’s huge and certainly somewhere to lose yourself for an hour or so.

The Bailiffgate Museum is a great place to find out about the local history of Alnwick.

There’s the historic town centre with shops. Think more ‘Market Town’ than Oxford Street. 

If you're into fly fishing, Hardy's Fishing Rods Shop and (tiny) Museum can be found on the main street (Bondgate Within). And if you've got a couple of grand to spare you could even buy a new rod.

Alnwick features several bookshops, including the Accidental Book Shop which is the main drop in for Story Fest.
