3RD NOVEMBER, 2009

I know some very bright people. I know some people who can tackle problems in a unique way. I know some people with all of those attributes and yet still they are bypassed for promotion, can't quite seal the deal, are overlooked and will always be known as a 'close, but no cigar' person. And the reason is simple; they don't know how to express themselves.

The ability to present an idea, communicate a solution and at the same time sell yourself has long been thought of as a master skill. However, it's never been more important than now.

Who cares what you know if you can't communicate the message in an interesting, informative and entertaining way.  I know it's not fair, no one said it has to be fair, it's just.... true.

So what can you do right now to express yourself and get your message across?

Michael is currently reading, 'It's not what you think'. By Chris Evans

I've always liked Chris Evans so may have been a little biased in choosing this book a couple of weeks ago. However, I quickly read that once again success doesn't happen by accident as Mr Evans takes you effortlessly through each stage of his life and exactly what he did and didn't do to be successful. Amongst the anecdotes you can read how, from the age of 13, he was planning for success by getting the top job in his local newsagents, to how a legendary deal was struck with Richard Branson on Concorde.

Like any good autobiography you'll want to know the flip side of success and with his heart on his sleeve, Chris opens up in that area too.

A really enjoyable easy read and I think you can get it for half price on Amazon at the moment too.
