Why my favourite book didn't sell

I'm now the proud author of 6 books and delighted that people keep buying them - it's lovely. As an author you can't tell what will work, who will buy it or why.  I guess your business is the same.

However, you do get a good feeling about some ideas and that's what I had one week, late in 2007, when 'Brilliant Life' was launched.  It was my best work, packed with ideas and stories to help anyone who picked it up and used it.  This was going to be the ultimate personal development book!

The only challenge was, it didn't sell.  At least not as well as 'How To Brilliant', its predecessor, or anything like 'Flip It' - still pinching myself over that one.

About 3 months ago the wonderful people at Audible.co.uk who are the world's largest producers of audio books (they supply Amazon and iTunes too!) asked if I would record the audio version of 'Brilliant Life'. So a few weeks ago I spent two days in the studio bringing the original bang up to date and recording it.

And now I know why Brilliant Life as a paper book didn't sell so well.  It was meant to be an audio programme!  Even as I recorded it I was energised by the exercises, excited by the content and above all I found myself using the tools and techniques to improve my life all over again!

'Brilliant Life' works amazingly well as an audio programme and thanks to Audible you can download it right now here for as little as £3.99.

I'm writing my next book this summer and I'd love your help.  I'm unable to give too many details right now but here's what I can tell you.

I'm looking for some exciting and innovative Time Management tools and techniques.  It may be a way to pummel procrastination or alleviate admin.  Or how to find a few valuable family minutes to ensure you demolish deadlines.  Any of your ideas, big or small, could help thousands of others.

If I use yours you'll be credited in the book and receive a signed first edition.
I'd like you to send your ideas to info@michaelheppell.com by July 31st.If it's a winner we'll be in touch.

That's it.  So come on gang take five minutes to jot down your ideas and send them off to me - do it now!
