Yesterday I received an email asking me what I mean by Sizzle Sessions and what's the difference between them and meetings. So for Steve W, you and 28,000 others, here goes:
Sizzle Sessions are a fast-paced
gathering with a maximum of two items on the agenda.
Meetings are slow, with multiple agenda items to wade through.
The Sizzle Session leader sets the pace and attendees are encouraged to participate in short, succinct ways.
In meetings people often revert to anecdotes and leaders feel obliged to let them talk... for ages.
Sizzle Sessions start on time and usually last for 15 - 20 minutes. Participants leave feeling energised.
Meetings start when the last person arrives (stealing time from other participants); they go on for an hour or more and leave attendees feeling drained.
People look forward to Sizzle Sessions.
Stop meeting, start sizzling!
Be Brilliant!
