Have you ever been out for a walk with my wife? If you should have to hike with Mrs H here's a
tip - make sure you've programmed in a few extra hours.
I'm not being critical, but when it comes to walking we're just... different.
I like to plan a walk the night before. Saturday was a 12-miler. Scheduled 4 hours and 30 minutes (including 30 minutes for our packed lunch).
It took us 6 hours!
Nothing to do with getting lost, miscalculations or path closures.
It was that Mrs Fearnley-Whittingstall (my new affectionate name for Mrs H) stopped every few minutes to gorge on blackberries.
It's one of the best crops for decades I'm told. Fat, sweet and scrumptious.
Fair enough. But what about my walk?
You know where this one's going?
Mrs Heppell-Fearnley-Forager enjoyed the walk AND stopped to appreciate the bounty.
Yes, the goal is important - but not nearly as important as the journey.
Have a brilliant week.
