He saw the flashing light on his office
answerphone. He casually hit play. Then he heard a concerned voice.
'I got this number from the side of a van. I noticed one of your employees was using a mobile phone while driving through a residential area. It was 10 o'clock this morning along... '
And at that point he realised... it had been him.
This isn't the opening chapter of a short story. It was my mate and it happened
last week.
Here's what my friend said to me.
'Michael, my first reaction was, 'What's it got to do with him?'
He went on, 'My hands-free wasn't plugged in and a client was calling. But recently I've learned it's not always best to go with my first reaction.'
He went on to explain that he immediately called the whistle-blower back. He introduced himself as the owner of the business, confessed he was the culprit and apologised for using his phone while
driving.
Cool, eh?
Responsibility is the ability to respond
It made me think.
How many times have I made excuses instead of taking responsibility?
Probably hundreds. Actually that's a cop out; let's go with thousands.
So here's a challenge.
For just 3 days take complete ownership and responsibility for all your actions and reactions.
Sounds easy? It's not.
Go for
it. Test it. Let me know how you get on.
Be Brilliant!
