The expression has been around for thousands of years.
Get back in the saddle.
Few of us will actually be riding horses, but there are times when we all need to get back on the metaphorical saddle, to avoid quitting and get stuff done.
Here are 17 ways to help you back on the saddle:
1) Make a public post – do it here www.facebook.com/groups/17TheGroup
2) Comment on someone else’s post. By supporting other people it's amazing how you feel supported yourself.
3) Accept that you will fall off – every person who has learned to ride has - it's OK.
4) Create a shortlist of things you have achieved – anything. Now look at that.
5) Visualise a hyper, short-term future. What will 24 hours from now look like?
6) Create a reward system for yourself – what will you give to you (the most important person in the world) when you have completed this?
7) Consider something you can use to avoid the pain of not getting back on the saddle.
Avoiding pain is a strong motivator. Imagine encouraging your kids to do something, only for them to turn to you and say, ‘Well you quit’.
8) Double up. Stretch yourself even further. If you were going to write 500 words step it up to 1,000 and get out of your comfort zone.
9) Write a list of what you are going to stop, start or keep.
10) Breathe. Slow down. Consider a visit to White Island.
11) Create a visual image of you achieving what you need to achieve. Print it. Stick it everywhere.
12) Use an affirmation. My favourite is: ‘Do it now. Do it now! DO IT NOW!’
13) Set a mid-term goal. How will it feel at the end of 17 when you've achieved what you set out to achieve? See it, hear it, feel it.
14) Release the past with joy. It's gone. There is only now (Eckhart Tolle) and that will move us to the future
15) Give yourself 17 reasons why it's a must. You probably won’t be able to do this, but by aiming to write 17, I bet you can write way more than five.
16) Write these words, ‘Now I am back on the saddle….’ and complete the rest of the sentence
17) And after all of this, just know that I know you’ve got this. Giddy up. Yeeehaaaa!
Be Brilliant!
