You probably know that last September, I published my first new book for six years - ‘17’.
I decided to print, sign and number 1,000 hardback copies.
That was a mistake. It sold out in three days and I probably should have gone for 5,000. Lesson learned.
Did you know that printers will only guarantee the number of books delivered within 5%?
They do this because should there be a problem with the print-run they're always covered.
That meant we had to order more than 1,000 copies of 17 just in case it was 5% less.
The good news was the print run wasn’t short, so we happily sent out our 1,000 copies to the first thousand people who ordered.
But it meant that I had a ‘run-on’.
Over the past few months, I’ve given a few to new friends but now it's time to clear the last few copies.
Because you are on my mailing list as someone who's waiting for the next edition to be published, and because the paperback is a good year away, I thought I would give you an opportunity to buy an original copy first.
They will be signed (not numbered) and are exclusively available on a first-come, first-served basis. I can promise you there will be no more copies once these have gone.
