Hi
I
thought you'd open this one!
Who
doesn't want to be published and be paid for their work?
Lots of
writers have a limited mindset.
The believe that only when they publish their book, then they
may make some money as an author.
The truth is you can be making money as a writer
NOW.
I
remember when I was approached by a magazine and offered £500 an article to share my ideas.
I couldn't believe it! It was very early in my career - I would have written the
articles for free knowing the publicity would be worth it.
Now whenever I'm asked to write for a magazine or any content (printed or online),
I always ask for a fee. In 90% of cases I get it. Sometimes is only £50 - but it’s £50 more than I had before I submitted.
In
the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook 2022 there are sixty pages listing over 900 magazines and newspapers who are looking for submissions.
They
give full details of the type of articles they are looking for, how many words, where to submit and often how much they pay.
There are magazines for every genre.
And that means something you can write, submit and sell.
Then when you next pitch to a publisher or agent wouldn’t it be great to cite your work in a national publication?
I
normally sign off suggesting you Write That Book, but why not write that 500 word piece?
Be Brilliant!
