Have you ever had one of hose moments where everything just… lines up?
You think about someone and they call.
You talk about a new idea and an opportunity lands in your inbox.
You’re stuck on a decision and the answer pops up on a TV show, a podcast or in a chat with a mate.
Coincidence? Maybe.
But when you start to notice these patterns and act on them they can become more. Even a guiding force.
Carl Jung called it synchronicity. A meaningful coincidence.
Two or more events are
connected, not by cause, but by meaning.
And whether it’s the universe giving you clues or just a trick of your pattern-seeking brain… It’s worth paying attention.
It doesn’t matter if you believe in
synchronicity or if it’s just your brain connecting the dots. What does matter is how you respond. The meaning you assign. The action you take.
To start noticing synchronicities, test these ideas
Daily journal. Keep a note of anything that feels oddly timed or connected. It helps you spot patterns over time.
Pause and reflect. When something stands out, take a moment. Ask yourself: What might this be telling me?
Break the routine. New places, new people and new inputs shake up your thinking and create more space for surprises.
Stay open. Don’t over-analyse. Just
notice. Let your awareness gently tune in rather than trying to ‘force’ a meaning.
Sciencey Bit
Apophenia is the tendency to find patterns and connections - even where none objectively
exist.
Sounds like a glitch in your mental matrix? Not at all. It’s the same trait that powers innovation, creativity, intuition and goal setting.
Synchronicities often arise after
you’ve set an intention.
You make a decision.
You commit to something.
And suddenly the world seems to conspire to
help.
That’s not magic. That’s not The Secret. That’s focus.
That’s your brilliant brain tuned into opportunities it might have missed before.
Look for one synchronicity every day.
Write it down. Reflect on it. Ask: What’s the message?
Even if the answer is ‘none’ the habit of noticing can shift your mindset.
You'll be amazed at what shows up when you’re paying attention.
